READ THE INTERVIEW:

What is your favorite room?

My bedroom is my favourite room

Why is this your favourite room?

Until recently we were quite averse to decorating our rented house because we weren’t entirely sure how long we would be staying here for. We’ve been here for two years now so I thought it was time we started really putting our stamp on the place. I love this room because it’s more of a reflection of us. It’s light and airy and feels really calming. It’s a great space to come to when you need to take five and I always feel relaxed when I get into bed at the end of the day.

How have you decorated it? I.e what style?

The room is quite small so everything is pretty minimalist. We’ve gone for white walls to really open up the space and maximise light and with that we’ve framed all the artwork in white frames to allow the colours of the prints to really stand out. The rest of the room features pinks, dark yellows and greys in the furnishings and we got a medium wood bed, like an oak shade, to offset the rest of the white and create more of an earthy feel.

Is there anything in this room that you are particularly proud of?

Just getting it done really. I started taking the old wallpaper off last August and had to enlist my younger brother to remove the rest in February. Then I used the start of the lockdown to decorate.

Where do you like to shop for home décor?

Everywhere and anywhere really. I do tend to look at places like H&M Home and Habitat. I might find something I like by brand like Ferm Living which is usually out of my budget so I’ll source something similar from somewhere like H&M or even George. I try to shop independent whenever I can so I have a couple of really lovely pieces from The People Shop who are based in Birmingham.

How have you been using this room during self-isolation?

I live with my partner and our daughter so it can often get a little hectic in the house. We both use the room whenever we need to take a moment or two to decompress. We have also used the room to work in and have video calls when we need somewhere quieter.

One word to describe how this room makes you feel today?

Blissful.
