What is your favorite room in the house?
To be honest, I love my bedroom just as much but if I must pick, it’s the living room!

Why is this your favourite room?
Probably because I work around here a lot and as a family spend a lot of time here, we watch tv, we play music etc. My dining table doubles as my workshop, my painting desk and my shooting desk.
The room also has huge french windows and allows a lot of natural light which in general makes me feel very joyful. In these difficult times it blurs the boundary between indoors and outdoors.
How have you decorated it? I.e what style?
I’d say, fresh, contemporary meets beach style! We wanted the room to look as open and bright as possible so we started with lots of white and added lots of blue and organic materials like wood, rattan and hyacinth. But I pendulum a lot!
From shabby chic accents to farmhouse kitsch and sometimes lot of plants- while keeping the layout and base same. I also work with a lot of whites and neutrals, and natural materials when it comes to my home because I love the fresh organic ambiance it renders.
Is there anything in this room that you are particularly proud of?
The coffee table, the DIY hat stand/rack/hook and the mirror. When I started staying solo in Bombay in 2009, I got the table and the mirror from a second hand market and it’s been with me for 11 years now. I literally go back in time when I am near them. As for the hat rack, I thought that branch was very pretty and it did look quite nice when I put it up though a certain someone did give me the eye and that unsaid, “god, she is out collecting trash again” look.

How have you been using this room during self-isolation?
The TV is in this room- bang opposite the day bed- so yeah, chips-me and TV! The trio is in a harmonious marriage.
But then I quit my job last year and have been working from home (and happily self isolating) for about a year now so I generally have a routine – most of which involves this room. I shoot on the table, the kitchen is right next and of course the cats like to hang around here too..so I’d say, just about perfectly.
One word to describe how this room makes you feel today?
Blessed!

Trumatter’s place looks so inviting. I have been following it for so long now. Her style and every frame she photographs, is pure beauty.
I can see the chic but no sign of the shabby – it’s great.
